Islamabad, 10 May 2025 – The federal government has officially approved the construction of a 4-lane Motorway. The initiative aims to link key tourist destinations in northern Pakistan, including Mansehra, Kaghan, Naran, Jhal Kund, and Chilas. Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan announced the decision during a high-level meeting.

Calling it a “strategic tourism initiative,” the minister directed the National Highway Authority (NHA) to declare an emergency and begin construction of the 4-Lane Motorway without delay. The 235-kilometer stretch will be developed according to international standards, with a focus on ensuring safety and convenience for tourists traveling through the region.

“This 4-Lane Motorway is not just a road project. It’s a vital corridor for boosting tourism, connecting our natural gems with efficient infrastructure,” said Abdul Aleem Khan. He further instructed round-the-clock construction to fast-track completion.

To support a smooth travel experience, the minister ordered the NHA to construct modern rest areas along the N-15 route. A two-phase toll collection system was also proposed to make travel more convenient. “If tolls are to be collected, world-class services must be ensured,” the minister added.

During the session, NHA officials and the Federal Secretary for Communications shared updates on the planning process. The minister assigned clear responsibilities to NHA officers to ensure timely and high-quality execution of the 4-Lane Motorway project.

Once completed, this new 4-Lane Motorway will significantly reduce travel time and provide a major boost to the tourism sector by improving accessibility to the scenic northern regions of Pakistan.
